The F. L. Schlagle Marching Stallions, under the direction of Reginald L. May, a graduate of Florida A & M University, and assistant, Gary E. Thomas, a graduate of the University of

Missouri, Kansas City, are one of the most active and visible bands in the greater metropolitan area. The Marching Stallions are known for its high-step southern style marching and high-energy performances. The band prides itself by living up to the following band motto:

  • Attainment in leadership,
  • Achievement in academics,
  • Perfection in musicianship,
  • Precision in marching,
  • Dedication to service,
  • and Quality of character.

It is through this motto that our students work hard to become and represent the Schlagle Marching Stallions. 22
"Class, very classy outfit, very professional young adults. Very disciplined to be as young as they are, that's very obvious because of the success they have achieved. I really look at them as goodwill ambassadors for our school. They exemplify teamwork, as they really pull together on fundraisers to meet their needs. The do a great job pulling together to meet that financial goal. They represent us well", said Mr. Douglas W. Bolden, Proud Principal of F. L. Schlagle High School.
Over the past few years, the Marching Stallions have traveled and performed at many different locations and events. It is through travel that students are able to see different styles of marching throughout the nation, learn new techniques, work on their people skills, see different cultural events and tourist attractions of various cities, and work together building a "family" style relationship within the band organization. Although performing on stage limited their space for movement, they performed with the same amount of energy they would if they were marching. The band has received many honors, awards, and opportunities for exposure for their willingness to be a partner in the community. Approximately 100 students participate in the marching band. Members of the band are among F. L. Schlagle High School students whom achieve national and local academic honors.
